Hi there! Well, it’s about freaking time I wrote something, so here it goes…

Today’s song will be St. John by We Are The Fallen. The song was published in 2010 on the album Tear The World Down.
Here’s the lyrics, and video below:

This is a really dark song, with some even darker lyrics. St. John is actually a mental hospital, so thereof the lyrics “When did this asylum become where I sleep”.  It rocks, with brilliant riffs and hard playing all the way through, and it haunts you. You can really feel it with the piano in the intro, followed by a few chugs from heavy guitars, and even Carly’s voice sounds haunting.
Not much more to say, just listen and enjoy.

“My whole world’s forsaken
Won’t let you destroy my faith again”
(St. John – We Are The Fallen)

Another day, another song…
The fourth song of the challenge, “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj.
This song was published on the album “Pink Friday” in 2010.
Lyrics here, and the crazy-ass music video below:

Well, told you so!
I think she’s amazing. She’s a great rapper. There aren’t that many female rappers, and really not many that good ones especially!
She has the craziest outfits, and the weirdest elements in her music video. This is really a music video with sex appeal. Lots and lots of it. But since she has a special way of using it, it doesn’t get ordinary. She adds something special to it, if you ask me.
The lyrics aren’t my favorite “type” of lyrics, but they definitely work in the total result. I guess the lyrics was written first, so that didn’t sound quite right, but what the hell…
“That’s the kind of dude I was lookin’ for
And yes you’ll get slapped if you’re lookin’ ho”
I quite like the beat, and the song is catchy, and that’s how much I can say about the actual music. Too bad.
I like Nicki because she’s different from other singers, she has her own style, and goes with it. I respect that.
Well, got to say some things about this song,  this one is my favorite by Nicki Minaj, but that may be because it’s one of the very few I’ve listened to by her. Oh well…

“Boy you got my heartbeat runnin’ away
Beatin’ like a drum and it’s coming your way
Can’t you hear that boom, badoom, boom, boom, badoom, boom, bass
He got that super bass”
(Super Bass – Nicki Minaj)

Axel Rudi Pell – Glory Night

Second day of the callenge, hell yeah!
Today’s song is Glory Night by Axel Rudi Pell. Published on the album The Crest in 2010.
Lyrics here, and song below:

Really great! I can’t actually believe that I don’t listen more to Axel Rudi Pell than I do! Of course, I’ve heard this song before, but I haven’t really sat down with just the song, and listened to it and enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, this is one of those songs that is brilliant, but so hard to say something about. I like the vocalist’s voice, and the lyrics are really good. A real love song, for sure.
There is one thing I have to say, though.
I worship that guitar solo. The guitar playing in general. Wow. That’s all I have to say.

“No storm, no dark clouds can tear us apart
You’re the chosen one deep down in my heart”
(Glory Night – Axel Rudi Pell)

Hi! As I said, I will blog all weekend, and since in Norway the time is just half past 11 in the evening, it’s still the 3rd of September.
Now, today’s song is Tear The World Down by We Are The Fallen. Published on the album with the same title, Tear The World Down, published in 2010. Lyrics here, and at least there’s sound in the video below:

Now, the long, almost forever-lasting intro is slow and nice, with lovely violin, making a nice transition into the rocking guitars and great drum work. I usually don’t comment the drums, but they’re pretty good here. The song, with it’s long intro, is a tad too long for my taste, as I need variation, and tend to get bad conscience when I switch song before the current is done. Anyways, need to make this short, if I’m gonna make the deadline (haha, like I really had one!). Like the use of choir in this song, like many of the other goth-songs (if you think this song belong under another genre, don’t be afraid to shout out!) they have, it makes it greater with a choir. (You hear it best in the end).
Another thing I like, is the great violin in this song. I love the combo of rocking guitars and aggressive violins.

“I suffer through through the shame, wishing hope would just abandon me till this is over. “
(Tear The World Down – We Are The Fallen)

Hi! I need to say sorry today too, for not being able to blog yesterday. I hate having no internet connection, but I can’t do anything about it, so I’ll just have to wait until that dumb-ass landlord of mine gets his ass on the move to do something about it!

Now, for the real deal. I’ve chosen the song Make Me Wanna Die by The Pretty Reckless. The song was published on the album “Light Me Up” in 2010. The lyrics are here, and I want to kill whoever that made it  not possible to insert the video into the post. It makes everything more difficult, because people want the easy way, just pressing the “play” button, but anyways, for those who bother to klick on the links, here’s a link to the music video:

Now, I know for a fact that this band is one of the two lucky ones to get to go on tour with Evanescence. That’s actually how I discovered them. I looked at the touring schedule and saw that The Pretty Reckless (and another band) was going to be on tour with them. The band’s vocalist is actually Taylor Momsen, and though I’ve seen her in magazines and stuff, I’ve never heard her sing, which came as a rather pleasant surprise. First comment on the song: I simply loved the lyrics. I got this song stuck in my head on Wednesday night, going to bed after a party. There were specific reasons why, but this is a music blog, not a feelings blog, so I won’t bore you with that. Anyway, after going to bed with this song in my head, I couldn’t get it out the next day either, winding up with searching my Mp3-player for the song. I didn’t get tired of it, and that’s a good quality in a song. The refrain is like printed in my scull now, and so is Taylor’s voice, being both calming (yes, a weird word of choice, but I’m sticking to it!) and a little rough, making this song a good rock song, along with the neat guitars. As I “said”, a good rock song.

(Just for warning, I’ll try to press in a pic in every post, if I don’t get the video function working again, so here’s an update with a picture describing a sweet quote that’s actually true, I’ve read the book, so I know)

I’ve chosen to quote the whole freaking refrain, because it’s so damn great, so here it goes:

You make me wanna die, I’ll never be good enough, you make me wanna die, and everything you love will burn up in the light, and every time I look inside your eyes, you make me wanna die”

(Make Me Wanna Die – The Pretty Reckless)

Hey y’all! Really sorry I didn’t post anything yesterday, but my internet connection is equal to zero at my new place. Anyways, it’s time for a new song, and today’s will be Through Hell by We Are The Fallen. The song was published on 2010 on their album, “Tear The World Down”. The lyrics are easy to hear, but if you want them anyways, you can find them here. There’s no real music video for this song.

First I would like to say that the lyrics are really cool, and kind of dark, and suits well for a gothic rock song, for that kind of great playing. The use of a choir is neat, it makes the song more like a gothic song, I think. As I normally do, I will mention my love for guitar solos, and this one will be no exception. It’s good, but it’s too short, I think. They could have made more out of it. I like it anyways. Rocking guitars and pounding drums are some of the things that makes me like this genre. Really, it’s all just great.

“All my tears pull me through hell again”
(Through Hell – We Are The Fallen)

Hi! Today I’m featuring another band from my little collection, Avenged Sevenfold. Just started listening to them a year ago or so, so this is the song I listen the most to. It’s from their newest album, also titled “Nightmare”, published in 2010.
The lyrics is here if you want them, but I advise you to listen to it a couple of times to both get the lyrics and the video.

Dark song, really, it’s dark, but surprisingly enough I always get in a good mood when I listen to this song. Love the beginning, it’s a nice touch to the song, to start that way. When it starts, I emediately manage to recognize it, and have caught myself with a little smile on my mouth when I listen to it. I guess it reminds me of someone. Anyway, dark and cool, but I don’t care for that tarantella in the music video, because I hate spiders! That’s the only drag down for me on this one. Plus, it might sometimes feel like it’s a tad too long, but hey, I don’t think I need to mention the solo on this one, and if that’s what makes the song long, then let it be so.

“You should have known the price of evil, and it hurts to know that you belong here”
(Nightmare – Avenged Sevenfold)

Hi there again! Sorry for the long stop in my blogging. Family is really time consuming!
Anyway, now I’m back, and today I’ve chosen Burn by We Are The Fallen. First, as usual, we have the lyrics here.
The song was first released on the album “Tear The World Down” in 2010. And next, as usual, we have the video:

Now, after taking in that beautiful, strong and hard core song, I need to say that it’s one of the best songs by We Are The Fallen I’ve heard. They’re relatively fresh, so it’s just been one album, but it was great all the same. Well, I feel it’s necessary to say, for those who didn’t know, that the band consists mostly of ex-Evanescence members: Ben Moody, Rocky Gray and John LeCompt (and another guitarist, Marty O’Brien), and also powered by vocals from Carly Smithson. Some of you, who knows a little about their history, they will probably think that I’m being “unfaithful” to Evanescence or something, but I just care about the music, (although I find some of Ben’s comments really annoying) and I still love Evanescence above all artists, not that it matters…
Now, for the real mission: The song.

For the song, I would say, after listening to it many times, that it’s simply hard core. Well, to make a deeper comment, it starts on with hard, cool guitars and drums, and it smooths out in the refrain with violin and a slower beat, but I like that too! And the lyrics is kind of dark, but at the same time, it’s about love, so it’s not so dark after all. It’s beautiful.

Hope you’re not all too disappointed in me for not immediately posting my review on “What You Want”, but I kind of want to wait until I can get my hands on the music video too! (And plus, you can’t always get what you want! Ha-ha).

“My heart is waiting and breaking to return to burn with you tonight”
(Burn – We Are The Fallen)
