Hey ya’ll! So, to start off this thing, I’ve chosen to write about Almost Easy by Avenged Sevenfold. The song is off the album Avenged Sevenfold, published in 2007. Here are the lyrics, and below is the music video.

The guitar riffs and the solo in this song is just another proof why I love Avenged Sevenfold so much.  I’m not insane when I say this song will take the roof off of the place if they play this live. M. Shadows’ vocals are impeccable, and the lyrics are insanely good. I just love the little laugh Shadows has after he sings “I’m not insane, I’m not insane” after the bridge, it’s like he’s contradicting himself, and it fits so perfectly. This song is one of the classics by A7X in my opinion. You can’t go wrong with it, and you can hear all the characteristics of their music in here. I just love it.

“I feel insane every single time I’m asked to compromise
Cause I’m afraid I’m stuck in my ways, and that’s the way it stays
So how long did I expect love to out weigh ignorance?
By that look on your face I may have forced the scale to tip”
(Almost Easy – Avenged Sevenfold)

12 Stones – World So Cold

Hello there! Today I’m doing a post on the song World So Cold by 12 Stones. The song was published on the album Anthem For The Underdog in 2007. You can check out the lyrics here.

I think this song is very beautiful and something to think about. The lyrics are sad but good, dealing with the evils of the world. The song starts out slow and builds up as the song goes on to “There’s a sickness inside you that wants to escape” and so on, which I think is a brilliant part. The strings make the song more dramatic and lifts the song quite a bit. Paul’s voice is great, showing that he’s not just the heavy rock kind of guy. Yes, I like this song very much, and it reminds me to forgive and not to hate.

“It starts with pain followed by hate
Fueled by these endless questions no one can answer
A stain covers your heart and tears you apart
Just like a sleeping cancer”
(World So Cold – 12 Stones)

Hi there! I’m trying to get some real blogging done, now that I have the time, so today it’s
Scream Aim Fire by Bullet For My Valentine. The song was published in 2007 as a single, and later on the album with the same name, Scream Aim Fire (2008). Here are the lyrics.

I like the drum intro of the song, and the general speed of it, it’s pushing fast forward, and gives the song much energy. The lyrics are awesome, and I especially love the chanting “Over the top, over the top!”. The guitar riffs are cool, and I’ve always liked heavy guitars. The guitar solo is also very much worth mentioning, since I think it’s pretty good. The whole song has a war theme, with both the lyrics, the manic drumming, and the music video, with it’s clips of weapons being fired and such. I think it’s awesome.

“Bodies falling, voices calling for me
Limbs are flying, men are crying
Such a hurtful sight”
(Scream Aim Fire – Bullet For My Valentine)

12 Stones – Games You Play

Today’s song is Games You Play by 12 Stones. The song was published in 2007 on the album Anthem For The Underdog. Here are the lyrics. I unfortunately only got a Spotify link for the song, since it’s nowhere to be found on YouTube except from cover versions, and that sucks, but that’s life. Enjoy!

12 Stones – Games You Play

I really enjoy the guitar riffs in this song, and the drums make it even better. The lyrics are brilliant, they have both an attitude and also some vulnerability. The song is a very straight forward rock song, and though I kind of miss a solo in there somewhere, the bridge make up for it all. I really really like this song a lot, and thought it was important to share this with you, maybe especially because it can’t be found on YouTube.

“I don’t know why and I don’t know how I let you control my inner self
As cold as you are, I’m counting the scars
They’re proving to me just who you are”
(Games You Play – 12 Stones)

Hey there! I’ve noticed that I’m going slow in the blog world, and decided I should speed up a bit. But not that fast, because today I’m doing a post on the Linkin Park song Shadow Of The Day off the album Minutes To Midnight (2007). Here are the lyrics.

Music video:

Lyric video without all the disturbing sound effects from the music video:

I like the cleanness of Chester’s voice in this one. The song starts off very slow and nice with a few deep tones, the keyboard and vocals, and escalates nicely towards the refrain, and more toward the second refrain, without taking off completely before the guitar solo. The guitar actually doesn’t come in before after the second refrain, and you can hear a sample of a string ensemble that kicks in before the second verse. There are a lot of small elements in this song to complete it in the way it turned out. Even though the lyrics may seem a little blue, the song itself sound more of a cheerful tune as we reach the end of it, but if we look at the music video, the song changes it’s entire meaning. At first listen it seems so simple, but you notice more and more about it every time. It’s very well executed, even the music video is very well thought through. So beautiful.

“Sometimes solutions aren’t so simple
Sometimes good bye’s the only way”
(Shadow Of The Day – Linkin Park)

Hey! Since my 100th post is coming up, I decided to do something special for post nr. 99, 100 and 101. At least it will be special to me, don’t actually know if you all will understand what’s special about those posts, but some will. Now, this time I’m doing a post on Scream by Avenged Sevenfold. The song was published on their self titled album (Avenged Sevenfold) in 2007. Here are the lyrics, and the song is below:

I just love the intro, how they used actual screaming, it gives me the creeps. Of course I love the guitar riffs, they’re awesome as usual. The lyrics are cool too. I think the voice of M. Shadows is pretty awesome.

“Scream till there’s silence
Scream while there’s life left, vanishing”
(Scream – Avenged Sevenfold)

Sorry for the hold-up. I though it would be okay, since I’ve got tonnes of homework, and so little time.
Today’s song is another by Avenged Sevenfold. It’s called Gunslinger, and this song was published on their self titled album (Avenged Sevenfold) in 2007. Here are the lyrics. This is one song I’ve had on my mind for almost a month now, so it’s good to get this one out to you too.
Listen and Enjoy!

The riffs in the beginning are country-like, and that seems strange for Avenged Sevenfold, and strange that I like it, but I think it’s genius. And the second time around when M. Shadows sings “I’m coming home to you” , before the rough guitars kick in, you really hear it in his voice that it’s about to get rougher. Then I get that stupid smile I was writing about again, because A7X riffs are just awesome. I adore the guitar solo (obviously).  The lyrics are clearly (as I see it!) about someone who has been in the army, and is finally coming home to his love. That’s strong.

(I thought this picture suited well for this post. So sad, it broke my heart a little)
This song has grown to become one of my favorite songs by Avenged Sevenfold.

“I reach towards the sky, I’ve said my goodbyes
My heart’s always with you now
I won’t question why so many have died
My prayers have made it through, yeah”
(Gunslinger – Avenged Sevenfold)

Epica – Never Enough

Hi there! Sorry, I’m a bit behind on my schedule now, but I hope you forgive me. At least I’ve managed to keep the posts within 24 hours of each other. Today I’m writing about the song Never Enough by Epica, a Dutch symphonic metal band. The song was released on the album The Divine Conspiracy in 2007. The epic lyrics are here (though I think they are a bit wrong, but I’ll get back to that), and the official music video is (or at least should be) below:

The voice of the Simone Simons, the vocalist, is really remarkable. It is downright grand. In the refrain we can hear both Simone’s wonderful voice, and the other vocalist, and founder of the band, Mark Jansen’s deep growls in the background.  The song is really big and sort of gothic, even though it’s not really what you would think when you read the lyrics. I like the whole sound of the song, the combination of Simone’s voice, the synth piano and violins, and the constantly chugging guitars.

I think there is an error in the lyrics, and I couldn’t find any lyrics page that had the right ones. Instead of “Because you are consumed and incontent”, I think it should be “Because you are consumed and in contempt. What do you think? I think it sounds better, since I’ve never heard of the word “incontent” (and neither did the online dictionaries!), and “in content” sounds weird to me, but “in contempt” would suit well for the context, I think. This kind of ruined my quote. Damn it.  (Let me know what you think!)

The music video is really self explanatory, so I don’t have to say much about it, except from stating the fact that Simone looks smashing, and that I like the fact that the band is flashing on and off again in the video. Cool concept.

“Always hearing what your ears can’t hear
Feeling what your hands can’t touch
Thinking you’re incomplete”
(Never Enough – Epica)

Well, first day of the challenge. Running a little late though, if I were to keep my promise from the last post.
Anyways, today’s song is A Little Piece Of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold. The song is publised on their album, Avenged Sevenfold, in 2007.
Lyrics is here, and here’s the animated, official music video of this song:

Well, let me just start by saying this song has a twisted music video. It also has  some really twisted lyrics to go with the twisted video, even though I’m sure it’s the other way around (the video is made to match the lyrics).
This pretty much sums up my dear friend too, who actually listens to this song, and loves it! (Of course, she wouldn’t give me songs to write about that she hated!) But I love her for it!
Well, because I can’t relate so much to the lyrics, I don’t listen to this song a lot, but I think it’s good anyways. It may also be good not to listen only to songs that you can relate to.
The classical instruments fits really well in this song, and creates drama to underline the lyrics’ meaning. The lyrics are, as I said, twisted, and literal in one way, but sometimes it’s like that you feel after a break-up (my interpretation of this song, don’t like it, don’t read on!), and you feel so much hate, that you just want to “stab him fifty fucking times” (Yeah, of course I chose to write “him”, I’m a girl, you know!).
“You had my heart, at least for the most part
Cause everybody gotta die sometime, we fell apart
Let’s make a new start”
(A Little Piece Of Heaven – Avenged Sevenfold)

Second thing first, it’s not me (being a total ass, that is), but my memory is, though, and I consider it not to be a part of me, as it is not often as great as the rest of me (not that I’m THAT great, but that says more about my memory than it does about me!)
Anyway, what I really mean, is that my memory forgot that I was supposed to pack my power cord to  my computer, which I didn’t, and that resulted in me not blogging yesterday.

Now for the song, which was really yesterday’s song. Any day, the song I chose, was Hallelujah by Paramore. It was published on the album “Riot!” in 2007. By the way, not to be confused, it’s all their song, not a cover!
Technical things first, the lyrics you find here, and here’s the music video:

Wow, what a voice! I’ve probably mentioned it before, but it is remarkable that someone so young can be so talented (but then again, many starts out that young and also younger). She has an amazing voice anyways. I do suspect that the lyrics site I’m using is a little wrong, but that’s nothing I can do about, I’m too lazy to find another page, and it was only one word.
This video doesn’t actually have a story, but it helps more with just following lyrics, and simply enjoying the music. Loving the riffs, wishing for more of the solo, I say nothing more.

“Somehow everything’s gonna fall right into place. If we only had a way to make it all fall faster everyday”
(Hallelujah – Paramore)
