Category: Three Days Grace

Hi! Yes, I think it’s about time I wrote something about Three Days Grace. This time it’s The Good Life, off the album Life Starts Now (2009). The lyrics are here, and the music video below:

The guitar riffs in the intro are just fucking amazing. The song is heavy, and it’ts pushing forward with much energy. The music itself is heavy, but the lyrics are not as dark as the music would suggest. They deal with the need for a bit of the Good Life, getting the change that is very much needed. Adam’s voice is rough and good as always, and it brings out the lyrics in a good way. The song isn’t so long, but it’s a really good one still.

“All I want is a little of the good life
All I need is to have a good time”
(The Good Life – Three Days Grace)

Hello there! This time I’m writing about a song by Three Days Grace called Chalk Outline off the new album Transit Of Venus, published this year (2012). Here are the lyrics. Enjoy!

This seems like a new direction for Three Days Grace, but definitely not the wrong one. The song has great elements of guitar and programming mixed nicely into the song. The lyrics are awesome, using the metaphor of a crime scene very well. “You left me here like a chalk outline, on the sidewalk waiting for the rain to wash away, wash away. You keep coming back to the scene of the crime, but the dead can’t speak and there’s nothing left to say anyway”.  Adam Gonthier’s voice is still cool,  it seems like it’s a layer over the vocals in the verses, but not in the refrain, and that’s good. The new album is very fresh, published October 2nd and I think this song is a great choice as a single, it’s interesting and at least it makes me want to hear more of the new album.

“I’ve been cut, I’ve been opened up
I’ve been shattered by the ones I thought I loved”
(Chalk Outline – Three Days Grace)

Hello! Today I’m doing a post on the song Someone Who Cares by Three Days Grace. Published on the album Life Starts Now in 2009. Here are the lyrics.

The lyrics and their meaning are very strong in this one. And they are very true too. I think the guitar riffs are good, and I really like Adam’s voice. After the bridge the song seems to escalate, and I think that was a good thing. It gave the song more energy towards the end.

“It’s so hard to find someone who cares about you
But it’s easy enough to find someone who looks down on you”
(Someone Who Cares – Three Days Grace)

Hey there! Now I’m going to do a review about the song Never Too Late by Three Days Grace. The song was published in 2006 on the album One-X. The lyrics are here, and the heartbreaking music video is below:

I first of all love the finger ply in the beginning accompanied with only Adam’s voice before the band kicks in. It’s building up to the refrain, where the rock guitars plays their riffs, making the song rougher. Then, after the bridge, the song is take down to the finger playing and Adam’s vocals as they repeat the first two lines, and we see that sweet little girl, and over to the refrain again where an archangel is fighting the man. I think that is wonderful. And I really like the fact that the song ends as it starts, with the finger play.

The lyrics are sort of general for any situation, but if we look at the music video, there’s a whole new meaning to them. It seems obvious to me this is about child abuse, and the girl’s life when she grows up. In the end she breaks free from the handcuffs and hands that is holding her down, as Adam sings the words “Maybe we’ll turn it all around ’cause it’s not too late, it’s never too late”, and I preceive that as the message of this song, that you can break free, no matter, what, cause it’s never too late.

“The world we knew won’t come back
The time we lost, can’t get back
The life we had won’t be ours again”
(Never Too Late – Three Days Grace)

Today I’m doing a post on I Hate Everything About You by Three Days Grace. I felt it was really necessary to do a post on Three Days Grace now, it’s been too long since last time. The song was published on their self-titled album (Three Days Grace) in 2003, and was also their first single. The lyrics are in the link here, and the song itself below (with lyrics, but they are not correct):

It was about time I did a review of this song. This song was the first one I ever heard of by Three Days Grace, and it really underlines their work well, and what kind of band they are.
I like the intro with the finger playing. Then the drums kick in, first with a muffled sound, but then the real deal is introduced, and it keeps building up to the refrain. They even have almost a full stop in the playing right before the refrain. I like that, I think it brings out the lyrics in the refrain in a certain way, in addition to the fact that they are repeating the lyrics in the refrain (and the rest of the song, though a little altered in the different verses, too). The lyrics are really good, and maybe they describe a lot of what’s wrong in many relationships.
Might be, I don’t know. Don’t trust everything I say. (It is, after all, 1st of April, you know – April fools-day).

“All the feelings that I get, but I still don’t miss you yet
Only when I stop to think about it”
(I Hate Everything About You – Three Days Grace)

Hi there! This post have to be really quick, because I need to pack my bag and go off on the ferry (and then the bus!) to my apartment, which have no Internet connection, as I’ve mentioned… several times.
Anyways, today I’ve chosen the song Over And Over by Three Days Grace. Published in 2006 on the album “One-X”.
The lyrics you will find on this link here. If I manage, the video will be here:

I love the finger play on this one. It’s just really nice, and I like the way it builds up to the refrain. Of course I love the lyrics. Good lyrics can make the song better, and this song’s lyrics is both sad and beautiful, and so God-damn true. (Maybe too much info there, but what the hell, it’s my blog!).

“So many thoughts that I can’t get out of my head”
(Over And Over – Three Days Grace)

Three Days Grace – Pain

Hey there! Today’s song is Pain by Three Day’s Grace, which fits with my day, because I’ve had a migraine almost all day. It’s not that kind of pain the song is about, but we’ll get back to that later. The song was first published on the album “One-X” in 2006. The lyrics are here. Now, over to the music video:

The song starts softly with only the vocals of Adam Gontier and a little guitar. Then it goes into the full band and stronger, rougher voice that we know Adam does so well. Genius. What’s more genius about this song, is the fact that you can hear, at the end of the verse, right before the refrain, the catch in his voice, like as if we could hear the pain that he feels. This song is not for the happy people, as they call it among my happy friends, a “emo-song”, not for those happy ones that don’t understand that kind of pain. Oh well, let’s not kill the mood, and rather move on to the fact that this song is a great one. Didn’t quite get the video, other than it’s several other people than Adam who’s not feeling love, and wants to feel something, so they choose pain instead.

“This life is filled with hurt when happiness doesn’t work”
(Pain – Three Days Grace)

Hi! The song I’ve chosen for today is Animal I have Become by Three Days Grace. It was first published on the album “One-X” in 2006. The lyrics you can find here, and the video is here:

It’s hard to say anything about this song, because I’ve only listened to the band for half a year or something, and just listened, not doing any research on the band. Anyway, I will try. The song is, as most of the songs on my playlists are, dark, and filled with rocking guitars and drums. Adams voice does the rest of the job, making this an over all cool song about loosing control.
The music video is a bit creepy, but it’s awesome too, showing what we hear.

“So what if you can see the darkest side of me?”
(Animal I Have Become – Three Days Grace)

Just to have all three of my favourite bands covered, I will do a post on Three Days Grace, who I actually know very little about. What I know is that it’s an all-male band, and they make some seriously awesome music! Today’s song is called World So Cold, of course, by Three Days Grace.
(Lyrics you will find by clicking here)

This video is not the official music video. I don’t think they have a real music video for this song, and that’s too bad, but that’s the way it is. This song was published on the album Life Starts Now in 2009.

Well, I don’t know a lot about this song, but I do know that this song is beautiful, and the lyrics are really powerful, and I can relate to it in many ways. I like the voice of Adam Gontier, the vocalist. I really love the whole song, from lyrics to instruments and vocals. It’s just a great song! I think he has a good point, the world can be so cold, especially when you love someone who doesn’t love you back, like I think he is saying.
“Livin’ in a world so cold, wasting away. Livin’ in a shell with no soul, since you’ve gone away. Livin’ in a world so cold, counting the days, since you’ve gone away”
At least I can relate to it in my way, and you others may have your own opinion.

Even though I have already quoted this song, I feel that I need to get another quote that also matters to me.

“For so long I’m left behind, I feel like I’m losing my mind”
(World So Cold – Three Days Grace)
