Category: Halestorm

Hello people! Today I’m doing yet another post on one of Halestorm’s songs. This one is called Hate It When You See Me Cry, and was published on the Deluxe Edition of the album The Strange Case Of… in 2012. Here are the lyrics.

It’s very simple and straight forward, but so good. The song starts right on with the vocals and a guitar, and the rest of the band kicks in on the second time Lzzy sings “I hate it when you see me cry“. Of course I like the guitar solo, though it’s not the most awesome I’ve ever heard, I always like a good guitar solo! The lyrics are both sweet and cool. “I’m here to save the world, but who will save super girl?”. I mean, that’s awesome. This song rocks, it just does.

“I’m your rock n’ roll Joan of Arc
The Queen of broken hearts
I’m here to save the world, but who will save super girl?”
(Hate It When You See Me Cry – Halestorm)

Halestorm – Break In

Hello there! Yep, it’s time for another song by Halestorm! This time it’s Break In off the album The Strange Case Of… (2012). Here are the lyrics.

The melody of this song is very beautiful. It’s a very calm and sweet song, compared to the rest of Halestorm’s repertoire, and so good. Lzzy’s voice is much more vulnerable when not accompanied by rough guitars and drums, but still very powerful. The lyrics are so sweet and great, well written.

I really wanted to show you a special live version of the song that was performed on every show of the Carnival of Madness Tour last year. You see, since both Evanescence and Halestorm were on the same tour, Lzzy and Amy Lee decided to work together on this song. Here you see the (in my opinion) fantastic result of the collaboration:

“You let me fall apart without letting go
Then you pick up the pieces and you make me whole”
(Break In – Halestorm)

Hello there! Now I’m doing a post on the song Daughters Of Darkness by Halestorm. The song was first published on the EP Hello, It’s Mz. Hyde, and later on the album The Strange Case Of…, both in 2012. Here are the lyrics, as well as in the video:

This song has a lot of energy. The chanting just enhances the energy even more. I really like the guitar riffs, and the drums in the intro sound almost tribal, which sort of fits the song, if you consider “Daughters Of Darkness” to be a tribe of women or something. I think the lyrics kick ass. Maybe that’s because I’m a woman myself, but they’re still awesome. Lzzy has a rough and cool voice that I think is great.

“We can turn you on, or we will turn on you
Daughters of darkness, sisters insane
A little evil goes a long, long way”
(Daughters Of Darkness – Halestorm)

Hey! Today’s song is Love Bites (So Do I) by Halestorm. The song was published on their new album, The Strange Case Of… (2012).  The lyrics are here, and the music video is below:

I really enjoy the lyrics to this song. They have such an attitude, and Lzzy sings them with such attitude, in a strange way it makes me a little more proud to be a woman. Lzzy has a voice that really suits singing in a rock band.
The drum beat gives the song such a high tempo, and drives the song so fast forward, that it gives the song an extra edge. I also liked the guitar solo, though it’s a little short for me, but then again, there’s beat driving the song forward. No time for stretched-out guitar solos!
The music video isn’t that special, except for the way Arejay handles his drums. Oh, well…

“I know a thousand ways to help you forget about her
That bitch can eat her heart out
Love bites, but so do I, so do I”
(Love Bites (So Do I) – Halestorm)

Halestorm – Innocence

Well, Hello! Today’s song, and first artist for this challenge, is “Innocence” by the American rock band Halestorm. The band was founded by the siblings Lzzy(her actual name is Elizabeth, but her stage name is Lzzy) and Arejay Hale (thereof the name Halestorm).  The song was released on their self titled album (Halestorm) in 2009. The song was actually co-written by Ben Moody, which is the co-founder, and previous member of Evanescence (ironically, I’ve listened to this for a while, and checked out just now about the song, and there his name was… funny how things like that happen to me). You can read the lyrics here. Enjoy the song!

I absolutely adore the guitar riffs. Really fantastic.  Lzzy’s got an amazing voice (her actual name is Elizabeth Hale, but her stage name is Lzzy). You really hear it in the mid of the song, after the bridge, “Child don’t follow me home”, I got chills the first time I listened to that.
They’re different. The lyrics are not all that mushy and all about love. The song is more of the bitchy type, if you know what I mean. She’s still the girl, but the roles are kind of different, turned in a way. Normally you would think that it’s the girl who’s the “child”, but since it’s Lzzy who’s singing, it seems as she wants a boy’s “innocence”. That’s pretty neat to me, it makes me feel powerful as a girl. You can hear it in their other songs too, the kick-ass lyrics, you get confidence as a girl when you listen to them, and that’s great. Different, but definitely brilliant.

“If you choose to stay you’ll throw it all away
And I just want to take your innocence”
(Innocence – Halestorm)
