Hey there! So, suddenly inspired and after checking that I didn’t do anything with this song before, I chose today to write about Weight Of The World by Evanescence. The song was published on the album The Open Door in 2006. Here are the lyrics. Listen and enjoy.

The intro is really rocking and cool, and I like the sound of Amy’s voice when she sings “Feels like the weight of the world, like God in heaven gave me a turn”, it sounds almost distorted, I think it’s really cool. I also like the choir, especially in verse two, the wailing sound fits the song perfectly. Amy’s vocals are rocking this song, and the most awesome feature in this song is the incredible falsetto voice she goes into towards the end, and what’s more incredible is that she does that live as well! The whole song is influenced by the attitude in Amy’s voice, just awesome. The lyrics are a little dark, and seems even darker by the sound of the song. The riffs are rocking too, and the drums… you hear it even better in the live version how cool it is. It’s brilliant.
So, here is a live version of the song from Rock In Rio 2011, hope you enjoy this as well, it’s such a great performance.

“Feels like the weight of the world
Like all my screaming has come unheard”
(Weight Of The World – Evanescence)

Hey there! Okay, so today’s post is not going to be the conventional kind of blog post… I just had to share with you this pearl of a clip of Evanescence that I found on Twitter (and also retweeted, of course!), which I personally loved. This is Disappear  off their album Evanescence (2011). So, I’m not going to comment on Amy’s amazing vocals and awesome playing of the band, even not the crazy, surprising and cool guitar solo, because I know you can hear it, I’m just posting this clip and saving the comments for a later occasion. Listen and enjoy!

“Don’t you want to feel?
Don’t you want to live your life?
How much longer are you gonna give into the fear
I can’t go on pretending
So give me something real
No one in your way but you
How much longer are you gonna give into the fear

Holding you down ’til you disappear”
(Disappear – Evanescence)

Hello! Today I’m doing a post on the song Everybody’s Fool by Evanescence. The song was published on the album Fallen in 2003, and it was the fourth single off the album. Here are the lyrics, and below is the music video.

(I added a version without the sound effects and the music video intro, because that may be very disturbing to some people)

I really like this song because I understand Amy’s intentions about writing it. She said that she wrote the song about celebrities with completely false images, and exposing that it’s all fake. “You’re not real and you can’t save me”. I think this song is amazing, and it deals with something important as well, which makes it even better. Of course I love the lyrics, and I think the vocals of Amy is stunning as usual, so powerful and beautiful. The guitars and drums sound good, and it all sounds so complete together, I just love it, and this reminds me of how great a band Evanescence was and still really is.

“Without the mask, where will you hide?
Can’t find yourself, lost in your lie
I know the truth now, I know who you are
And I don’t love you anymore”
(Everybody’s Fool – Evanescence)

Since yesterday was the 10th year anniversary of Evanescence’s debut album Fallen, (and since I wasn’t able to post this yesterday) I thought I would post the very debut single off the album, and to this day, the most famous song by the band of all times, and my favorite song. Here is Bring Me To Life by Evanescence.

Congratulations, world, on the World Evanescence Day (yesterday, March 4th), and congratulations to Evanescence for a fantastically successful album and 10 great years with the amazing sound of it.

And also, here is the complete album for you as well, since I’m such a nice person!

Evanescence – Imaginary

Hi there! So, as you all may know, yesterday was Valentines Day, but I really didn’t feel like, nor have the time to do a “romantic”  post, so instead, I’ll do you one better, by writing about a song by the band I love the most! Yes, this time I’m writing about Imaginary  by Evanescence. The song was published on their album Fallen in 2003. Here are the lyrics. Enjoy!

It actually took me a while to get used to this song. I couldn’t understand the lyrics, and because of that I couldn’t fully enjoy it. Now, on the other hand, I get them, and I really like them. Amy’s voice is strong, simply impeccable, as she sings these words of deeper meaning. The band is great, with awesome guitars, the piano, the strings, the beat. It just rocks so hard.
And… as a little treat for you, I added the live version of Imaginary  from Anywhere But Home (2004). Hope you enjoy this awesome piece of well-constructed sound as much as I do!

“I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge
The nightmare I built my own world to escape”
(Imaginary – Evanescence)

Hi ya’ll! It’s been a bit too long since last time, but now I’m taking the time I really don’t have to write about this song that I have been putting off for too long. This time it’s Lost In Paradise by Evanescence, published on their self-titled album (Evanescence) in 2011. I’ve both covered the album version and the acoustic version, because I love both and they are both different and special in their own way. Here are the lyrics. Enjoy!

This song starts out very calmly and builds up to be a powerful rock ballad. The piano and strings are sweet, but when the band kicks in the song is lifted to another dimension, it’s blown wide open and the instruments enhance the lyrics.  The lyrics are beautiful and strong, but at the same time vulnerable. Amy’s voice is powerful and captivating, and she brings out the lyrics with such gracefullness and, yes, power.
The acoustic version is a bit different, since the rest of the band is not involved, just Amy alone by the piano and no big editing, but I like it very much! I like the video itself too, it’s simple, but still good. Amy’s voice is clean and beautiful, even without the editing (like those of you who have heard the Evanescence “Anywhere But Home” live album or been to one of their concerts would know!). This song is just as good with and without the band, and is kind of a different song without the band, but still just as good in my eyes.
I think this song is just beautiful and powerful, and I really love it.

“All the promises I made
Just to let you down
You believed in me but I’m broken
I have nothing left, and all I feel is this cruel wanting
We’ve been falling for all this time
And now I’m lost in paradise”
(Lost In Paradise – Evanescence)

Life changing story

Hi! As you might have noticed, this blog is blog is about the music that I love and want to share my opinion about to the rest of the world for those who want to see. That is why I think it’s time you got to know a little something special.
I want to tell you a little story. The story of how I became interested in rock music and, most of all, how I became such a huge Evanescence fan. It all started about 7-8 years ago, I think. I was looking through my CD’s for music to fill my new MP3 player with. I listened to many songs, and decided to listen through one more of the hit single CD’s I had collected over the years. And there it was, the strangest thing. I couldn’t even read the name of the band, let alone pronounce it, but the song was called Bring Me To Life.
It was like an epiphany to me, something I’d never heard before, and something I’d never thought I would like. But there it was, the sweet and rough notes of Bring Me To Life was flowing through the speakers of my stereo, and I knew I needed to hear more. I remembered seeing the name “Ev-something something” on another CD, and I quickly looked through my other CD’s, only to find only one more song, My Immortal. That was it though, I was spellbound, and I knew I had to find more of this wonderful music.
This music has inspired and helped me through a lot of things over the years, both good and bad, and I don’t know what or who I would’ve been without it. You can almost say it brought me back to life.
Today I have all three studio albums, the live album, clothes and accessories all marked with the name of the music I’ve come to love so much.

Evanescence – Understanding

Hey there! Now I’m finally doing a post on the song Understanding by Evanescence (which I planned to do many weeks ago). The song was published 1998 on the Evanescence EP. and is credited as the second song ever written by Evanescence. Here are the lyrics, as well as in the video below.

The song starts with an audio clip from the movie “My World Dies Screaming” (also known as “Terror In The Haunted House”) from 1958, and an organ, which makes the mood of the song kind of gloomy and gothic. The song also contains some audio clips from the movie “When A Man Loves A Woman” (1994). Of all the audio parts, I especially liked “But the imprint is always there, Nothing is ever really forgotten” from “My World Dies Screaming”. The mixing of audio clips and music is strange, but interesting, and not a thing that you hear very often in music. The song moves slowly forward until 04.38, when the guitars kick in, and we get the more rock-like sound that we all like so much. I’m also very fascinated by Amy’s vocals, she sounds almost like in agony, but still it is very beautiful. It’s actually Amy that sings the extremely high notes of the soprano voice in the background as well. The song ends as it started, with an audio clip and the organ. The lyrics are beautiful and deep, and just as gothic as the music itself.

“Can’t fight it all away, can’t hope it all away
Can’t scream it all away, it just won’t fade away, no
Ooh, can’t wash it all away, can’t wish it all away
Can’t cry it all away, can’t scratch it all away”
(Understanding – Evanescence)

Have you heard? No? Then I think you should. This is Evanescence’s previously unreleased song If You Don’t Mind live in Brazil, played for the first time. I think it’s really worth a listen. As much as I enjoyed the live version, I sure would like to hear the recorded version of this song. It sounds absolutely great, magnificent. Here are the lyrics. Enjoy!

This was the best thing I could find, the closest you would come to the actual recorded version of the song:

I really love the lyrics and the roughness of the song, and I really hope they will publish a recorded version soon. I think it’s great and I liked it very much.

“And if you don’t mind I would like to live the lie that I will survive
And if you don’t mind, I would like to slip away and leave your world behind”
(If You Don’t Mind – Evanescence)

Evanescence – Tourniquet

Hey! Now, it’s been too long since last time, so it’s really due for another post. This time it’s Tourniquet by Evanescence (suggested by one of my dear friends, so it’s not me this time). Published on the album Fallen in 2003. Here are the lyrics, and the song below:

This song is very beautiful. Amy’s voice sounds so vulnerable and sincere, and I think it’s great. Let’s face it, this is a suicide song, but it’s about whether or not God will accept you if you kill yourself: “My God, my tourniquet, return to me salvation” “Will I be denied, Christ, tourniquet, my suicide”. It’s kind of cool that Amy has said that it has happened several times that she has started to crack up in laughter right before singing this song live, and making it hard for herself to sound serious, since she’s starting out with a sweet and calm tone “I tried to kill the pain, but only brought more”, and that is supposed to be sad and stuff, but she is struggling to not laugh. That is kind of funny, and makes the song not seem so serious after all. But it is, and the lyrics are so sad and, sadly mean so much to so many people, but I hope this will make people realize that they are not alone, and maybe also realize that things can really get better, because I know it can.  I really like the guitar riffs, and I think it’s awesome when she screams “I long to die!”, which is actually from Romeo and Juliet. I like this song. That’s it.

“I tried to kill the pain, but only brought more, so much more
I lay dying, and I’m pouring crimson regret and betrayal”
(Tourniquet – Evanescence)
