Well, hello there! This is ridiculous, I haven’t blogged in almost a month, I really need to get my ass in gear. So, a little ironically intended, I’m doing a post on Not Ready To Die by Avenged Sevenfold, since the doomsday prophesy failed. The song was published as a single in 2011 for the video game Call Of Duty: Black Ops. This is the first recorded release by Avenged Sevenfold with Arin Ilejay as drummer for the band. Here are the lyrics. Enjoy!

The whole song starts off with an organ piece (the instrument, not a body part – haha), and in the middle of it guitars sneak their way into the intro, and playing a few riffs before the singing starts. Almost through the entire song we hear the chugging of heavy guitars and some good riffs, and a steady drum beat in the verses. The guitar solo is also noticeable, as always when it comes to Avenged Sevenfold. M. Shadows’ vocals are impeccable, and makes the song like a complete A7X song.  The little detail with the sweet, but disturbing little piano melody in the bridge was a nice touch. Don’t really like that the song has a fade ending, but that’s not very important. I like the lyrics too, they have a lot of energy and are all about power and survival, but more controlling than in other songs by Avenged Sevenfold.

“Say goodbye to your life
Left to rot in your darkest hour
Prayers won’t help you now as long as your mine”
(Not Ready To Die – Avenged Sevenfold)
