Happy Halloween!

Hi there!
Well, it’s Halloween today, and I thought that since it’s a special day, and I’ve always liked Halloween, that I would blog twice today!
Have already posted a review on the song “Someone Like You” by Adele, but I thought, “It’s Halloween, and that song doesn’t fit the occasion very much”, so I’m making a playlist, made of songs that I think fits for Halloween:

Evanescence – Haunted

Helloween – Mr. Torture

Evanescence – Sweet Sacrifice

Avenged Sevenfold – Nightmare

We Are The Fallen – St. John

Linkin Park – Papercut

Evanescence – Whisper

Paramore – Monster

Three Days Grace – Scared

Avenged Sevenfold – A Little Piece Of Heaven

Evanescence – Your Star

Three Days Grace – Animal I Have Become

Avenged Sevenfold – Welcome To The Family

Evanescence – Sick

We Are The Fallen – Trough Hell

This list is made with the criterias:

  • Sound great
  • Have brilliant lyrics
  • Rock

Sorry if it’s not really varied, but that’s a mix of my favorite artists, so dig it or ditch it.

In addition, I’m quoting some of my favorite songs that I think fit this day perfectly.

“Long lost words whisper slowly to me
Still can’t find what keeps me here
When all this time I’ve been so hollow inside
I know you’re still there”
“Watching me, wanting me
I can feel you pull me down”
“Haunting you I can smell you alive
Your heart pounding in my head”
(Haunted – Evanescence)

“Welcome to the torture chamber
Said the sign above the entrance
Laughing as he takes you by the hand
Looking like a manic savage
Inside you can sense the anguish
Theatre of pain has just begun”
“Mr. Torture gives pain
With his whips and his chains
He knows just what you crave
Mr. Torture”
(Mr. Torture – Helloween)

“It’s true, we’re all a little insane
But it’s so clear
Now that I’m unchained”
“Fear is only in our minds
Taking over all the time”
(Sweet Sacrifice – Evanescence)

“You should have known, the price of evil.
And it hurts to know that you belong here, yeah
No one to call, everybody to fear.
Your tragic fate is looking so clear, yeah
Ooooooooh It’s your fuckin’ nightmare”
(Nightmare – Avenged Sevenfold)

“This night is alive with the smell of insane
It’s reaching for me and its calling my name
I beg for silence to drown out their weep
How did this asylum become where I sleep”
“All my Questions get no answers
Locked up tight from the world outside me
(No,No)
Mommy come get me out tonight
All my Questions have no answers
I can feel the fear inside me
(No,No)
Mommy come get me out tonight”
(St. John – We Are The Fallen)

Happy Halloween!

Hi there, everyone!
Today’s song is going to be “Someone Like You” by Adele. The song was published on the album “21” in 2011.
The lyrics are here, and here’s the music video (which I’m not sure is the official one, but it’s quite good anyway):

Adele has an amazing voice. Really calming and beautiful. Pretty jazz and soul inspired, if you ask me. Not usually my type of song, but damn, that’s beautiful! She has a special way of using her voice, and it gives me the chills. I love the lyrics. That’s how it really is. “Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead”.
The piano playing is really great. It’s the only instrument in the song, but it’s the only instrument needed for this song. Adele’s voice is so beautiful, that it’s like an instrument too. This song is really good, period.

“Never mind I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too..
Don’t forget me
I beg
I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead”
(Someone Like You – Adele)

Lil Wayne – How To Love

Well, wow, I thought I would manage to write more often when I just got some suggestions for what to write about. I was totally wrong. I need time. I don’t have enough time for anything. Not even the things I need to do. Procrastination is the worst thing ever. I really need to pull myself together.
Now, enough with the bad excuses. Let’s hear some music!
The last song of the challenge is “How To Love” by Lil Wayne.  The song was published on the album “Tha Carter IV” in 2011
Here’s the lyrics, and  music video:

Sad song, and even sadder music video. The lyrics are good, and it’s telling a story, not just random stuff (I checked it out, Wikipedia FTW!)
The music itself is pretty much just drums and an acoustic guitar. The song is not what we usually would expect from Lil Wayne, but it’s really not negative. One of his more meaningful songs, I would say. Quite good.
Well, hard to say much about this song too, as it’s not my favorite music, but it’s not bad, not bad at all.

I also got a link for the song without the music video here, as it sort of disturbs the continuity of the song.

“You had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn’t never figure out
How to love”
(How To Love – Lil Wayne)

Another day, another song…
The fourth song of the challenge, “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj.
This song was published on the album “Pink Friday” in 2010.
Lyrics here, and the crazy-ass music video below:

Well, told you so!
I think she’s amazing. She’s a great rapper. There aren’t that many female rappers, and really not many that good ones especially!
She has the craziest outfits, and the weirdest elements in her music video. This is really a music video with sex appeal. Lots and lots of it. But since she has a special way of using it, it doesn’t get ordinary. She adds something special to it, if you ask me.
The lyrics aren’t my favorite “type” of lyrics, but they definitely work in the total result. I guess the lyrics was written first, so that didn’t sound quite right, but what the hell…
“That’s the kind of dude I was lookin’ for
And yes you’ll get slapped if you’re lookin’ ho”
Brilliant…
I quite like the beat, and the song is catchy, and that’s how much I can say about the actual music. Too bad.
I like Nicki because she’s different from other singers, she has her own style, and goes with it. I respect that.
Well, got to say some things about this song,  this one is my favorite by Nicki Minaj, but that may be because it’s one of the very few I’ve listened to by her. Oh well…

“Boy you got my heartbeat runnin’ away
Beatin’ like a drum and it’s coming your way
Can’t you hear that boom, badoom, boom, boom, badoom, boom, bass
He got that super bass”
(Super Bass – Nicki Minaj)

Well, this is a challenge, and since it is, I need to write about the songs that are given to me. That means writing about some music that I normally don’t listen to. I actually sometimes listen to this song, and other “popular” songs, when I listen to music with my friends.
Today’s song is Ronnie & Clyde by The Lonely Island. Genius group. This song also features Rihanna which I also like. The song was published on their album “Turtleneck & Chain” in 2011.
Here’s the lyrics, and below is the hilarious music video:

I really think that The Lonely Island is a cool group. They make great, funny songs, and this one is my favorite.
The song is a “story”, and a great one too. I don’t know any other words to describe this song other than “funny” and “cool”, but in a different way than I usually use the word. It’s fun in the way that “Ronnie” can’t seem to talk properly when “Clyde” is there, but the second she leaves, he’s rapping like a mad-man. It’s cool in the way that a song about something so ridiculous can be so great.
Thought this song would be easy to say something about, but really, it’s hard for me to write about songs that don’t actually mean a lot to me. This song  just says it all with the video.
Another thing that’s hard with the song is choosing the lyrics quote that I normally do at the end of the post. Especially since it’s like a story, but I will try…

“If you don’t wanna end up dead
You’ll do everything Shy Ronnie says
Tell ’em, Ronnie!”
(Shy Ronnie 2: Ronnie & Clyde – The Lonely Island feat. Rihanna)

Axel Rudi Pell – Glory Night

Second day of the callenge, hell yeah!
Today’s song is Glory Night by Axel Rudi Pell. Published on the album The Crest in 2010.
Lyrics here, and song below:

Really great! I can’t actually believe that I don’t listen more to Axel Rudi Pell than I do! Of course, I’ve heard this song before, but I haven’t really sat down with just the song, and listened to it and enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, this is one of those songs that is brilliant, but so hard to say something about. I like the vocalist’s voice, and the lyrics are really good. A real love song, for sure.
There is one thing I have to say, though.
I worship that guitar solo. The guitar playing in general. Wow. That’s all I have to say.

“No storm, no dark clouds can tear us apart
You’re the chosen one deep down in my heart”
(Glory Night – Axel Rudi Pell)

Well, first day of the challenge. Running a little late though, if I were to keep my promise from the last post.
Anyways, today’s song is A Little Piece Of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold. The song is publised on their album, Avenged Sevenfold, in 2007.
Lyrics is here, and here’s the animated, official music video of this song:

Well, let me just start by saying this song has a twisted music video. It also has  some really twisted lyrics to go with the twisted video, even though I’m sure it’s the other way around (the video is made to match the lyrics).
This pretty much sums up my dear friend too, who actually listens to this song, and loves it! (Of course, she wouldn’t give me songs to write about that she hated!) But I love her for it!
Well, because I can’t relate so much to the lyrics, I don’t listen to this song a lot, but I think it’s good anyways. It may also be good not to listen only to songs that you can relate to.
The classical instruments fits really well in this song, and creates drama to underline the lyrics’ meaning. The lyrics are, as I said, twisted, and literal in one way, but sometimes it’s like that you feel after a break-up (my interpretation of this song, don’t like it, don’t read on!), and you feel so much hate, that you just want to “stab him fifty fucking times” (Yeah, of course I chose to write “him”, I’m a girl, you know!).
“You had my heart, at least for the most part
Cause everybody gotta die sometime, we fell apart
Let’s make a new start”
(A Little Piece Of Heaven – Avenged Sevenfold)

Challenge…

Hi there!
Busy, busy, busy, but I have decided that I want to challenge myself on this blog, so I asked my friends to give me a list of songs that they want me to write about. A bit of a challenge for them too, obviously, cause I haven’t got all the lists yet, but I got one, and I will start with it today. Since my dear friend knows this is a challenge, she decided to really give me something to wrap my brain around to write about. Really challenging, it is! (Okay, I’m well aware that I’m over-using the word “challenge” now, but that’s simply what it is, a challenge).
Anyways, here’s the 5 songs I’m going to write about for the few next posts:

1. Avenged Sevenfold – A Little Piece of Heaven
2. Axel Rudi Pell – Glory Night
3. The Lonely Island – Shy Ronnie 2: Ronnie & Clyde feat Rihanna
4. Nicki Minaj – Super Bass
5. Lil’ Wayne – How to Love

That’s a nice mixture from her very varied music taste. She actually wrote “Helloween – Mr. Torture” for second place, but I’ve already written about that song, as some of you may know, and actually mentioned in the post that I think of my friend when I listen to it! Anyways, she had to pick another song, so she chose Lil’ Wayne – How To Love. Like that song, so I don’t mind, but it would have been easier to write about Mr. Torture

Well, can’t promise you that I will start today, but if I don’t, I will start tomorrow, after 8 O’clock, the deadline, when I’ve finished my History assignment and delivered it one minute to 8… Haha – not kidding.

“Hold on, little girl
The end is soon to come
Sick of it all”
(Sick – Evanescence)

GREAT NEWS!

I know you all know from before, it’t the day we all have been waiting for!

Oh, yes, The New EVANESCENCE album is OUT!

And I can’t buy it, because I’m from Norway, and the release is only in America. FML.

BUT… the album is available on Spotify! That I discovered just by accident!
How fortunate! It was driving me crazy that I didn’t have the chance to listen to the new album, but now I do!!!
HELL YEAH!

“As much as it hurts, ain’t it wonderful to feel?
So go on and break your wings
Follow your heart till it bleeds
As we run towards the end of the dream”

(End Of The Dream – Evanescence)

Paramore – Careful

Hello? Anyone there? I really hope so.
For the day, I’ve chosen to write about the song Careful by Paramore. It was published on their album “Brand New Eyes” in 2009.
Lyrics here, and video below:

The best thing about this song, I think, is the lyrics. You really need to do something yourself, if you want it. Hayley’s voice is amazing, and I really feel that she means what she sings. I think that’s important. Of course I love the song itself too, I mean, I don’t just listen to it for no reason! Don’t actually have so much to say about the song, besides the fact that the lyrics really matters a lot to me, and that’s why I wanted to share the song with you.  I hope that you take it in, and consider the fact, that you need to do something yourself if you want something, go get it!

For once, just for fun, I’m going to include a photo I took yesterday!
Please comment, both the song and the photo!

“You can’t be too careful anymore
When all that is waiting for you
Won’t come any closer
You’ve got to reach out a little more”
(Careful – Paramore)
